Since September 2009, Ambassador Gérard Araud has served as Permanent Representative of France to the UN Security Council and Head of the French Mission to the United Nations. Prior to his appointment, he held two different diplomatic posts in Israel for a total of five years and served in the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. An expert on the Middle East, H.E. Mr. Araud was also the Deputy Permanent Representative of France to NATO.
